Endodontics
Endodontics is a specialty of dentistry concerned with preventing and treating tooth pulp diseases. Whenever infeccted, the treatment consists of removing the soft tissue, named ‘pulp’, and replacing it by a filling material.
In addition to root canal treatments, Endodontics can reestablish the normal condition of the pulp tissue by means of pulp curettage, pulpotomy, pulpectomy, or surgical procedure.
Whenever a tooth needs the treatment provided by an endodontist, and for any reason it does not happen, and it presents root and adjacent tissues infected, it may allow bacteria to enter into the blood stream, in addition to causing pain, swelling, pus, and fever. These conditions may cause to the tooth to be pulled off when not properly treated.
